3rd Grade Classroom


Science- The students finished lesson two on the needs of plants. Students will begin their next lesson next week.

PLTW- This week, the students will begin to explore how traits are passed down in families as they learn basic principles of genetics and inheritance.

Social Studies- The students will begin learning about European explorers. Students will learn about timelines and how to create one and plot dates.

4th Grade Classroom


The Science-  The students continue learning about the various systems in our body in chapter four relating to life processes. This week we are working on the digestive system. On Monday, students will have a quiz on the circulatory and respiratory systems.

PLTW- The students will continue the third module called the Brain in Action. In this activity the students will investigate how the brain processes the information it takes in through the senses and how it stores the information as memories. Students will complete a scientific inquiry investigation to explore reaction time.

Social Studies- This week, the the students will learn about the history of the Eastern United States.

State Project-  This week, the students will continue their research project on their state of choice. Over the weekend the students should have finished their 12 fact relating to their state. By the end of the week, students should have thirteen paragraphs for their topics completely written. Each topic needs a title and three to five sentences explaining information about it.

​5th Grade Classroom


Science- The students finished chapter one lesson one on Classifying Living Things. Students will begin their next lesson next week.

PLTW-  The students will continue a new PLTW unit called collision. This week, the students will continue the third module called speed and energy. In this activity students explore the relationship between speed and energy of an object by assembling a simple model of a pendulum and vehicle and documenting the changes to the system that can increase or decrease the speed of the objects. Changes to the system will include varying the amount of potential energy by altering the mass or initial height of the objects.

Social Studies- This week, the students will begin there study of European exploration and what causes lead to their quest of mastering the sea. The students will learn about various important people and kingdoms, learn about their contributions to the age of exploration, and create a timeline detailing the events place in history.
