Goodwife Cruff and Kit were the only women on the ship. They ate together to get along better and needed to because they are the only women on the ship. Goodwife Cruff thought Kit was odd and not right . Goodwife Cruff thought that because she was the only one that could swim, and had more than one pair of clothes. Nat Eaton and Kit got along pretty well. Nat jumped in the river thinking that Kit couldn’t swim and tried to save her even though she could swim and he cared about her. Kit and John Holbrook didn’t really get along at first, but now kind of do. John Holbrook wants to be a priest. Captain Eaton made Kit and Goodwife Cruff eat together to get along better because they were the only women on the ship. Kits journey to Weathersfield was.... on April 1687, sailed briskly across the Sound yo the wide mouth of the Connecticut River and into Saybrook Harbor.

Her voyage from Barbados to Wethersfield took nine long days. The sails of the Dolphin were limp and soundless. There was only one or two temporary breezes that eventually had died down. In the morning she always wondered of she moved or not. Even if she did move there would be another bend in the river to taunt her again. At the dinner table Kit was introducing herself to Goodwife Cruff, John Holbrook and the Eatons. Kit told them about what happened to her mother and father and she also told them about her Grandfather and her nursemaid that took care of her. I can tell that Goodwife Cruff doesn't like Kit because of her jumping in the water like that made her suspicious that she might be a witch and she didn't even talk at the dinner table. Up on deck Kit saw John Holbrook reading a book, he was so into the book he forgot about meals entirely! When he finally noticed her he smiled marking his book and joined her to eat. The Eatons treated her nicely the whole time on deck until when they finally got to Wethersfield she told them it was sopposed to be a surprise for her aunt and uncle. They weren't even expecting her to visit at all. The last letter they sent was like 3-6 months ago. That means that her aunt and uncle might not even live there anymore. All of that journeying might be for nothing!

In the journey from Saybrook to Wethersfield she ate dinner with good Wife Cruff. They did not say a single word to each other. Caption Eaton treated Kit with kindness. He did that by letting Kit sit with Good Wife Cruff so she would not be lonely. John Holbrook said it is foolish for a tanner’s son to go to Harvard. John Holbrook talked about his childhood when he was growing up. He even worked all day and studied all night. He said he is not going to Harvard. He was talking for a long time to Kit. When kit got to saybrook she and the captan went to the road and saw the house and knocked on it.
